The Division of Long Term Care Residents Protection is responsible for the training and testing programs for CNAs and for maintaining the CNA Registry. If you wish to work as a CNA in the State of Delaware, you must meet the requirements of the board. Delaware CNA Program & Training Information
A CNA training program in Delaware must be at least 150 hours divided equally between the CNA classes and the clinical component. Some state-approved training programs may differ in the number of hours in classroom and practical training.

If an approved CNA wishes to work in Delaware they must first apply for reciprocity. The applicant must contact the Delaware Nursing Assistant Registry to obtain a transfer/reciprocity form. A completed form must be submitted including a copy of a current registry certificate, along with proof of three-month full-time employment as a CNA. There is no fee to apply for reciprocity. If an applicant is from the State of Maryland, he or she must hold a current Geriatric Nursing Assistant certificate to be eligible for reciprocity.
Renewal in Delaware
To renew CNA Certification in Delaware:
(1) A pre-printed recertification form will be mailed out to the CNA 2-3 months prior to your expiration date. If you still do not receive any notice, you may obtain renewal form by contacting Delaware Nursing Assistant Registry or visit D&S Diversified Technologies.
(2) Requirements to be met:
- You must perform at least 64 hours of nursing care services for the last 24-month certification period.
- If your address or name has changed, please call the DE CNA Registry to report the change. If your name has changed, you must submit a copy of a legal document showing your name change.
(3) Completed form with required documents must be mailed to the address indicated in the form.
(4) If you have not worked at least 64 hours of nursing care services for the last 24-month certification period, you must re-take the State examination.
To renew Expired CNA Certification in Delaware:
(1) Contact Delaware Nursing Assistant Registry or visit D&S Diversified Technologies.
(2) If the registry provide form, complete the form with required documents and fees. Mail the form to the address indicated in the form.
